BC Housing – Holiday E-Card

Challenge: BC Housing develops, manages and administers a wide range of subsidized housing options for those in greatest need. To thank those who have supported them throughout the past year, they wanted to send out a cheerful e-card and to celebrate the holiday season.

Solution: Ballistic Arts’ designers illustrated this pleasant and colourful winter scene to place on their holiday e-card, which continues the signature style found in BC Housing’s current logo.

Sven Winter – Logo and Business Cards

Challenge: Sven Winter is a young Canadian athlete aiming for gold in Vancouver’s upcoming 2010 Olympics. Sven was searching for a sponsor to create an exciting brand image to support his bid to become the Skier Cross Olympic champion in his hometown of Vancouver.

Solution: Ballistic Arts is proud to be able to sponsor one of Canada’s promising young athletes. We helped Sven by creating an enticing new logo and matching business cards. Sven will use this new brand to search for new sponsors. Keep an eye out for when we help Sven launch his new website. It’s coming!

BC Housing – Partners in Action Decal

Challenge: BC Housing teamed up with the Province of British Columbia, the Vancouver Police Department, and the non-profit operators to create safer housing for occupants of the 17 government-owned single room occupancy (SRO) hotels in Vancouver. They needed a symbol to represent the ’Partners in Action’ protocol, which would be displayed on their SRO hotels to help deter drug and criminal activities.

Solution: Ballistic Arts’ designers created an enthusiastic new decal to symbolize this consorted effort. We created a sign in conjunction with the decal that was unveiled at a press conference with the Hon. Rich Coleman, Minister of Housing and Social Development.

M&R Environmental – Scratch and Win Card

Challenge: M&R Environmental is an environmental services company, specializing in the safe and earth-friendly removal of used oil, antifreeze, and other waste products. They wanted a scratch and win card to help promote their services.

Solution: Ballistic Arts’ design team came up with an exciting design, which features a scratch-off area for M&R Evironmental’s clients to test their luck.

The Arbuthnot Group – 57 Below Ads

Challenge: The Arbuthnot Group (TAG) wanted a pair of sleek new ads to promote 57 Below in Douglas College’s monthly newsletter, “INside”.

Solution: Ballistic Arts’ design team created two stylish ads to catch the eyes of Douglas College Students and to inform INside readers of what’s happening down at 57 Below.

Kerrisdale Community Centre – Play Palace Logo Illustration

Challenge: The Kerrisdale Community Centre Society runs the Kerrisdale Play Palace in partnership with the Vancouver Park Board. The Play Palace is a giant indoor playground ideal for families with children 12 years and under. They were looking to have the Play Palace logo professionally illustrated.

Solution: Ballistic Arts illustrated a colourful logo that is bright, youthful, and mimics the round, bouncy play areas found in the playground.

The Arbuthnot Group – Winner/Loser Football T-Shirts

Challenge: The Arbuthnot Group (TAG) owns several pubs across the Lower Mainland. During football season, they like to give away prizes. TAG wanted to create a football t-shirt that was fun, but a little cheeky.

Solution: Ballistic Arts came up with a cheeky concept that was a little silly and fun.

Verrus – Parking Comic Strips

Challenge: Founded in 2000, Verrus has pioneered pay-by-phone services in cities and towns throughout North America and Europe. They wanted to create a series of cartoons showing the benefits of using Verrus compared with people who don’t use their service.

Solution: Ballistic Arts illustrated four cartoons in a comic strip format, with each comic strip portraying a different scenario. The cartoons humorously depict happy characters who successfully park using Verrus against unhappy characters in unfortunate situations caused by using old parking methods. The result is a promotional communication piece that is unique and fun.

Vancity – Financial Info FAQ Comic Strip

Challenge: Vancity was looking for a fun but effective way to educate staff about their Financial Advice FAQ by using a comic strip. They were looking for someone who could design it.

Solution: Ballistic Arts sketched out a few ideas and turned the Financial Advice FAQ into a superhero. The comic strip is humorous and teaches staff about financial planning advice.

aMUSEment – Logo, Billboard, Postcard and Temporary Tattoos

Challenge: The aMUSEment team’s vision is to enrich and amplify traditional events using mobile technology, and their idea is being introduced with the first-ever Digital Dragon Boat Race, available to play (for free!) from May 29 – June 12, 2005. They were looking to develop a complete corporate identity that would include everything from print to web.

Solution: Ballistic Arts is honored to be a part of this first-of-its-kind REAL-life digital game experience in North America. We designed a visually engaging identity that reflects the fun and interactive feel of the project. Try playing the Digital Dragon Boat Race, a live way to play games & explore Vancouver using cell phones. This game will thrill all levels of game players and culture enthusiasts, and has been developed for and is played on the streets of Vancouver. In partnership with the Alcan Dragon Boat Festival, the aMUSEment team is psyched to offer a whole new dimension of celebrating Dragon Boating in Vancouver. Finalists will compete June 18th at Science World for prizes, including Nokia NGage QD game phones, Omnimax tickets and more! Check it out to learn more and sign up to play!
