April 2007

Happy April Everybody!

It's been a mix of rain and sunshine, but we're holding out for the fact that April showers bring May flowers! In the meantime, we've been busy with a batch of exciting, new designs. Check it out!

SHARE - (Just Desserts 2007 Event Design & Photography)
Challenge: SHARE Family & Community Services Society held their second annual Just Desserts Gala fundraiser on March 29, 2007. They were in need of materials for the event, from newspaper ads and posters, to tickets and programs.

Solution: Ballistic Arts was proud to sponsor SHARE's Just Desserts Gala for the second year in a row. We donated our graphic design and photography services to help promote and capture the night's festivities, which included delectable desserts along with live and silent auctions. The evening raised over $30,000 that will help fund SHARE's community programs. Congratulations SHARE!

Sandman Hotels, Inns & Suites - (Flash Banner Ad Designs)
Challenge: Sandman is Canada's fastest-growing, privately-owned hospitality company, with over 30 Hotels, Inns and Suites from British Columbia to Quebec, and several more properties under development. They were in need of animated Flash ads to be placed on MSN.

Solution: Ballistic Arts created two different sized Flash ads for placement on MSN's sites. The Flash banners advertise Sandman's promotions with rotating pictures and text, making the ad dynamic and eye-catching.

BC Securities Commission - (InvestRight Tradeshow Booth Design)
Challenge: The British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) is the independent provincial government agency responsible for regulating securities trading in British Columbia through the administration of the Securities Act. They needed to have a booth designed for display at their InvestRight tradeshow.

Solution: Ballistic Arts designed a large-scale booth using a clean, white background and kept the design elements on the upper half of the booth to ensure that no pictures, text, or logos would get covered by surrounding tables or people.

Anducci's Restaurants - (Table Talkers Booklet Design)
Challenge: Anducci's has expanded to five restaurants across the Lower Mainland, giving more people a chance to taste their freshly-made Italian food served straight from the cucina! They wanted to redesign their table talkers menu.

Solution: Ballistic Arts created a set of modern, square pages for the table talkers that would be placed inside a 3-ring booklet. Each page uses the same design but incorporates different side-panel colours to give the menu a bright, refreshing feel.

On the Edge Fitness Educators - (Poster Design)
Challenge: On the Edge Fitness Educators provides a solid fitness foundation, plus a range of services in support of student learning and success, to help develop new and innovative programs in response to the needs of fitness leaders. They were looking to have a poster designed.

Solution: Ballistic Arts designed a poster that is intentionally skewed to give it a fun, energetic look. The placement of the poster on any wall gives it a different feel and makes it very hard for other posters to compete with a skewed poster, as they can't be placed beside this poster easily. The overall design is highly charged and uses the corporate colours of On the Edge.

Alright everybody! That's it for now! Remember to look out for the next Ballistic Arts newsletter!

Cheers,
