April 2008

Happy April Everybody!

Snow?! Sleet?! Rain, rain, and more rain?! It doesn't look like summer is coming anytime soon... Don't worry though, we'll warm you up with some of our hot projects!

Tartan Public Relations - (Vancity Carbon Neutral Video with David Suzuki)
Challenge:
Tartan Public Relations is a high-energy group of PR professionals who help clients exceed their business goals through strategic communications. One of their clients is Vancity, who was holding a public announcement about reaching their Carbon Neutral goal two years early and was joined by David Suzuki speaking as their guest of honor. They were in need of someone who could shoot the announcement and deliver a video in 48 hours.

Solution: Ballistic Arts went on location to shoot Vancity's announcement and the highlights of the event. We then met their 48-hour turnaround time with a video that captures the excitement of meeting their Carbon Neutral goal early and shares insights from David Suzuki, Patrice Pratt - Vancity Board of Directors Chair, and Tamara Vrooman - Vancity CEO.

BC Housing - (Live Green Calendar Design & Photography)
Challenge: The British Columbia Housing Management Commission (BC Housing) was created in 1967 to fulfill the government's commitment to the development, management and administration of subsidized housing. They were struggling to coordinate graphic design and photography services for their environmentally-friendly Live Green 2008 corporate calendar.

Solution: Ballistic Arts designed a calendar that follows BC Housing's Live Green environmental campaign by integrating shades of green with images of leaves and stems. We also conducted photo shoots to match each calendar month's specific scenario. Through Ballistic Arts' full media design services, we were able to logistically solve BC Housing's project coordination problem with a one-stop shop answer for the design, photography, and printing of their corporate calendar (it was 100% FSC & PCW paper for you dark green thumbs out there).

Fat Kee International Ltd. - (Logo & Website Design)
Challenge: Established in 1986 in Calgary, Alberta, Fat Kee International Ltd. specializes in fresh and frozen retail and wholesale distribution of processed meats including pork, poultry and beef. They wanted to branch out to the Asian market but didn't have a brand presence to market themselves with.

Solution: Ballistic Arts designed a logo with a warm, traditional feel using shades of red and gold. This set the tone for the look of the website, which attracts Fat Kee's clients both locally and in Asia. The different language options provide all of their clients the ability to read the site while the flash-animated logo and banners provide visual interest. Through the style, colours, and two versions of written Chinese, Fat Kee is now able to market to the Asian demographic.

Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce - (Golf Tournament Logo Design)
Challenge: The Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce serves the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore, and Belcarra. As a collective, they network, lobby, and work together to strengthen business in the Tri-Cities. They wanted to stray away from the same corporate look that's been used for their Golf Tournaments with a fresh new logo for 2008.

Solution: Since the theme of the golf tournament revolved around Las Vegas, Ballistic Arts designed a logo that emulates the neon signs of city. The logo is fun and represents the Chamber's Vegas theme while staying consistent with their brand. It is used in all the Golf Tournament advertising and marketing materials.

Vancity - (Careers Recruitment Photography)
Challenge: Vancity is Canada's largest credit union guided by a commitment to corporate social responsibility, and to improve the quality of life in the communities where we live and work. They wanted to have career-related photographs taken for their recruitment project, VancityCareers.com.

Solution: Ballistic Arts went on-site to some of Vancity's branches to take photos of staff, the buildings, and print materials. The photos are currently being used on the Vancity Careers website at www.VancityCareers.com.
